New research from Appalachian State College suggests that exercise first thing in the morning is more effective at lowering blood pressure than exercising in the evening -- it also seems to improve sleep more than exercising later in the day.
I'm an afternoon exerciser myself, but I keep hearing about the benefits of early morning exercise, from improved alertness to increased fat-burning. I might need to try the early-morning experiment for a month or so and see if anything changes for me... I'll post about it if I do.
When do you like to exercise? Why?
The only time I seem to be able to fit it in with my work schedule is on my lunch hour. That was difficult at first, but now it's easy, and I find it really wakes me up for second half of my workday.
ReplyDeleteI wish I could exercise in the morning! My body just isn't ready to move very quickly (even after a few cups of coffee) right away. I do best in the late afternoon or early evening, though that's a little tricky because if I've had a busy day, I'd usually rather end it on the couch than on the treadmill.
